Principal Accountabilities

  • Improving the enquiry to enrolment conversion rate by providing personalised communication and support to all stakeholders across the student journey to support student recruitment in the China market, this will include the delivery of key performance indicators

  • Creating and implementing careful annual plans of conversion activities for prospective students and adjusting plans in accordance with any market changes

  • Engaging with university and external stakeholders in a professional manner to support the reputation of the university

  • Delivering communication campaigns for enquirers and offer holders utilising a range of communication methods

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of university events to enhance brand profile, offer added value and support to key stakeholders and provide a platform for student recruitment

  • Support the China Recruitment Officer (China based) with account management of established and potential recruitment partners, such as Education Agents, and supporting the development of these partnerships. This will include making recommendations for enhancing the relationship

  • Establishing and developing a strong network of international schools to support UG recruitment and conversion efforts

  • Representing the university at external recruitment events in a professional manner and providing specialist advice and guidance to prospective international students, parents and their advisors on all aspects of studying at the university through a variety of communication methods

  • Although staff will have core responsibilities, you may be asked to support with additional tasks or projects as required by the line manager

Miscellaneous

  • The post holder will be required to undertake regular recruitment and conversion visits across China and must be prepared to travel on a regular basis

  • The post holder will be required to undertake out-of-hours and weekend work

  • Periodic visits to the University campus in the UK for training will be required

Key Tasks

Enquiries Management and Student Communications

  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to enquiries received through a variety of sources including our inbox, social media and from partners and counsellors to ensure strong conversion

  • Liaise with admissions teams to support application and offer queries from across our range of stakeholders. This will involve relationship building with our admissions teams

  • Design, create and implement a careful plan of conversion activities for prospective students, ensuring a co-ordinated and timely sharing of information from enquiry to enrolment. This includes but is not limited to html and phone campaigns, offer holder meetings, pre-departure events, webinars, live streams and any other relevant activities

  • Work closely with the Regional Development Manager and wider China team to develop and implement a consistent procedure for pre and post event follow up, including management of the university’s data capture tool and management of China specific data capture forms

  • Maintain records of student enquiries and associated documentation to ensure efficient responses and timely follow up in line with the university policies on data protection, information security and records management (including receiving, creating, using, storing and destroying data)

  • Liaise with the China Marketing Officer to share relevant and engaging topics and FAQs based on communications with our stakeholders

  • Monitor and report on conversion activities and conversion rates and ensure that any concerns (from stakeholders or otherwise) are raised in a timely manner with the Regional Development Manager

  • Collaborate with the China Marketing Officer to develop suitable pre-arrival content for the China micro-site, advise on content to appropriately showcase the student voice across social media, publications, China micro-site etc.

  • Maintain communication with current students and alumni to encourage involvement in marketing activities such as student content creation, testimonials and to ensure strong contact during the student journey and post graduation

Student Recruitment Activities

  • Represent the University at recruitment events including, but not limited to, recruitment fairs, partner visits and school visits. It may also include supporting delegations of academic staff during their visits to China

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with international schools through attendance of recruitment events, maintaining regular contact, creation of monthly school html newsletter, maintaining international schools database, arranging academic activities etc.

  • Support the China Recruitment Officer to create suitable training materials for the University’s agent and partner network and delivering a schedule of training activities across the agent and school network

  • Provide feedback from queries received about local demand and any emerging trends for popular courses and FAQs to feed into marketing activity

  • Develop strong and professional relationships with key stakeholders, including agents and international school staff, through maintaining a schedule of regular visits and offering regular training updates and support

  • Updating stakeholder contact databases, ensuring contacts are kept up-to-date

Planning and Support for Events

  • Planning and organising events for key stakeholders such as agents, partner universities, government contacts etc. to support with overall recruitment targets and profile raising. This can include co-ordinating guest lists, planning activities, and liaising with colleagues across the university

  • Based on communication with external partners suggest suitable events to support relationship building

Other activities

  • Support with posting to social media during periods of absence from the China Marketing Officer and offer additional support where needed for marketing projects

  • Support with additional tasks or projects as required, outside of core responsibilities as required by line manager

Job Requirements

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in Chinese and English (Essential)

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure (Essential)

  • Strong interpersonal attributes, good team player and attention to detail (Essential)

  • Ability to identify stakeholder requirements, trends and changes in circumstances (Essential)

General & Specialist Knowledge

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to an advanced level (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) (Essential)

  • Appreciation of the importance of customer service (Essential)

  • Knowledge and experience of international education and international student recruitment (Essential)

  • Previous experience of supporting agents or school counsellors with overseas application and recruitment processes (Essential)

  • Previous planning and development of student activities designed to support conversion activity (Desirable)

Education & Training

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience (Essential)

  • International education background (Desirable)

  • Strong English and native/fluent level Mandarin (Essential)

Relevant Experience

  • Experience of working in a multi-functional administrative role, preferably in a complex, large organization (Essential)

  • Experience in a customer service /student facing role, demonstrating a strong understanding of and commitment to customer services (Essential)

  • Experience of working within an international student recruitment environment (Essential)

Special Requirements

  • Willing to work flexibly when required (including evenings and weekends) in line with the demands made on the office (Essential)

The job holder will report to and be supported by Regional Development Manager (UK Office), MMU.
MMU offers a competitive package which includes basic gross salary, social insurance, housing fund, annual physical exams and generous leave entitlement.
The gross monthly package for this position is RMB 9,000 – RMB 11,000 with annual pro rata leave entitlement of 21-days for Chinese nationals.
