OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Description of Responsibility:Provide necessary administrative support with respect to the implementation, monitoring & evaluation, budget control and reporting within the framework of CI programmes and projects financed by UNESCO Regular Budget and Voluntary Contribution (VC) resources.
Assist in the preparation of contracts, prepare and monitor payments, oversee the budget status, communicate and follow up with project partners, to ensure smooth implementation of programme activities and related contracts.
Assist in the preparation of UNESCO work plans, project proposals for mobilization of funds from Voluntary Contribution (VC) sources and update databases.
Assist in organizing events, seminars, workshops and trainings and provide unit support and undertake missions as requested by the Head of Unit.
Asist with secretariat functions of the UN Theme Group on Disability in China chaired by UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia.
Assist in preparing various kinds of reports, communications and correspondence such as periodic reports on the implementation of the programme, country briefings, UN reporting, meeting minutes, inputs to office publications and social medias, website update, speeches, presentations, memos, letters and other correspondence, and provide translation and interpretation (Chinese – English) when needed.
Assist in maintaining contacts with UNESCO National Commissions, Chairs, Centres, line ministries, UN agencies, development agencies, donors and NGOs in the regional office countries.
Undertake any other assignments requested by the Director or the Head of Unit.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
University degree, secondary, technical and/or vocational training in the area of public administration, internatonal relations, media, communication and information.
WORK EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Experience in the area of project management, coordination and implementation.

LANGUAGES
Excellent knowledge of English and Mandarin (oral and written).
DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS
WORK EXPERIENCEExperience in implementation of projects in UN settings. Knowledge of UN settings specialties such as Media and Information Literacy, disability and gender equality in the media, digital transformation and digital inclusion of persons with disabilities, documentary heritage.SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Good knowledge of UNESCO’s mandate, programmes (with special focus on communication and information) and operational processes.
