Deakin International has responsibility for leading and driving the achievement of the University’s internationalisation objectives. It does this by working collaboratively with Faculties, Divisions and other areas across the University. Deakin International performs a range of important functions, including International Admissions, Recruitment, Compliance, International Relations and Partnerships and Marketing and Communications.
Principal Responsibilities
Recruitment:
Contribute to and implement an annual marketing and recruitment collateral plan. Identify collateral needs in the market and develop a distribution plan to key stakeholders.
Represent the University at recruitment events, promoting Deakin University as a study destination to prospective international students, and routinely assess the effectiveness of such events to inform future activity.
Act as the liaison officer for a designated Faculty. Responsible for working with the Faculty to develop an annual recruitment and marketing plan that includes specific activities, goals and targets, regularly meet with the Faculty to discuss plans and receive course updates which are shared amongst the China team. Assist Faculty staff in planning visits to partner institutions and agents.
Collaborate with Deakin College to identify opportunities in market, develop a joint recruitment activity plan and participate in Deakin College marketing activities as required.
Respond to prospective student and agent enquiries accurately and promptly
Take a pro-active role in the follow up and conversion of enquiries to application and offer to acceptance.
Maintain maximum levels of competitor awareness, product knowledge, and market intelligence and provide regular updates.
Agent Management:
Develop, maintain and monitor professional relationships with Deakin’s China agent network in the designated area to ensure they are appropriately trained to maximise their potential as recruitment channels;
Provide regular updates to the agents to ensure that they are aware of their obligations under the Australian National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2017 and have a thorough understanding of Deakin’s key selling points and courses.
Develop annual agent marketing plans and work closely with the agents to develop activity plans and targets. Meet regularly with the agents to monitor targets and measure strategy outcomes;
Monitor agent performance and promptly report issues to the Senior Marketing Manager (China) for action.

Required Experience
3+ years of experience in increasingly senior roles related to student recruitment for international institutions.
Advanced strategic thinking and experience developing and implementing targeted recruitment strategies.
Experience setting, tracking, and achieving quantitative and qualitative targets, strong analytical abilities and familiarity with using data to drive decision-making.
Fluency in English and Cantonese, comfort communicating with native speakers and proficiency in business writing.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; preference for at least one degree from a Australian institution.
Knowledge about the Australian higher education system and the Australian as a destination for international students
Experience or expertise in sales and marketing
Work or study abroad experience in the Australian is a plus
Experience recruiting for an Australian institution is a plus
Experience in working with Chinese educational agencies and universities
